Software Co builds custom API and systems integrations for Australian businesses, connecting accounting platforms like Xero and MYOB, payroll, payments, CRMs, ERPs and health or government services. We map which system owns which data first, then build with retries, alerts and monitoring so failures are caught early. Our teams work from Sydney and Melbourne and serve clients Australia wide.

Key 2026 Australian Integration Regulatory & API Pricing Updates

Three changes in the last few months are good reasons to look at how your systems talk to each other.

Payday Super: From 1 July 2026, employers move to paying super guarantee in line with payday instead of quarterly, and the ATO’s Small Business Superannuation Clearing House closed permanently on that date. Any custom pay run, timesheet or HR sync that feeds super calculations is worth checking.

Xero API pricing: Xero introduced tiered developer pricing from 2 March 2026. The Starter tier is free with five connections; paid tiers add monthly fees, connection limits and data allowances, and the higher tiers require app certification. How this affects you depends on how your integration connects.

E-invoicing: Commonwealth agencies and their suppliers are being moved onto the Peppol e-invoicing network, with deadlines reported for mid and late 2026. Private businesses are not generally mandated, though adoption is encouraged.

API & Systems Integration

Why Australian Enterprises Partner With Software Co for API Integration

We map before we code

Every project starts with an Integration Map: which system owns which data, which direction it flows and what happens on conflict. Most integration problems are data ownership problems in disguise.

We design for failure

APIs go down, rate limits kick in and vendors change terms. We build retries, duplicate protection, alerts and a failure playbook as standard, not as extras.

Real Australian integrations, from health to finance

Our case studies include Medicare and My Health Record connections, Stripe and Tyro Health payments, and credential checks with AMC and AHPRA. We describe only what those case studies show.

You own what we build

We aim to run integrations in your accounts, with your credentials, and hand over documentation so you are never locked in.

Core Engineering Solutions for Enterprise API & Systems Integration

Accounting, Payroll & Super Integrations

Invoices, bills, timesheets, pay runs and reconciliations moving between your operational systems and accounting platforms such as Xero and MYOB, with rules for tax codes, tracking categories and exceptions.

Payments, Billing & Claiming Integrations

Card payments, subscriptions, invoicing and healthcare claiming connected to the rest of your system, with reconciliation so finance can match what was charged to what was paid.

Government, Health & Compliance Connections

Connections to services such as My Health Record, Medicare, credential registers and e-invoicing networks. These involve operator onboarding, so we plan for approvals and testing from the first week.

CRM, ERP & Operations Sync

Keeping customers, orders, stock and jobs consistent across systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, NetSuite and your own tools. For a new CRM or ERP build see our custom CRM and ERP development; for trade and field service platforms see our trades integrations page.

Event Pipelines, Webhooks & Data Sync

Real-time or scheduled movement of data between systems, with queues, replays and dead-letter handling so one bad record does not stall the rest.

Custom APIs for Legacy & Internal Systems

A modern, documented API in front of an old system or database, so new apps and partners can connect without touching the legacy code directly.

Integration Monitoring & Health Dashboards

A view of what synced, what failed and what is waiting, with alerts to the right person. The part most integration projects forget to build.

Australian Enterprise API Governance, Data Sovereignty & Security Architecture

Payday Super & STP Phase 2 Technical Alignment

Integration logic built specifically to support high-frequency superannuation data transfers and Single Touch Payroll requirements following the July 2026 legislative deadline.

Encrypted Payload Protocols & Token Management

Security protocols including OAuth 2.0 authentication, TLS 1.3 payload encryption, automated API key rotation, and complete audit logging for sensitive financial transactions and health records.

Australian Sovereign Cloud Deployment

Full compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles. All middleware integration services, credential vaults, and error logs operate within secure, ISO 27001-certified AWS or Azure data centers located in Sydney and Melbourne.

Integration Pattern Selection Framework

The right answer is often the cheapest one that works. Here is how we think about it.

Native connector

Both systems already offer a maintained connector for what you need. Cheapest and quickest. Limits: field coverage, rules and volume.

Integration platform (iPaaS)

A few straightforward flows between common apps, owned by a non-developer. Good for speed. Watch per-task pricing as volume grows.

Custom integration

Two-way sync, business rules, high volume, several systems in one flow, or audit requirements. More upfront cost, more control

Event-driven design

Many systems need to react to the same changes in near real time. Best when integration is a long-term capability, not a one-off.

Our 6-Step API & Systems Integration Lifecycle

01

Systems & Data Map

We list every system involved, which one is the source of truth for each type of data, and who is affected when it is wrong. The output is a one-page Integration Map, so everyone agrees on what syncs, in which direction and how often.

02

Pick the Right Pattern

Native connector, an integration platform, custom code or an event-driven design. We choose on cost, volume, control and how often the systems change, and we will recommend the cheaper option when it fits.

03

Sandbox & Contract Tests

We build against vendor test environments and write tests for the shape of the data each system sends and expects, so a change on their side is caught before it reaches your customers.

04

Build With Failure Handling

Retries, queues, duplicate protection, rate-limit handling, alerts and logging are built in from the start. We also write the failure playbook: what breaks, who is told and what to do.

05

Parallel Run & Reconcile

The integration runs alongside your existing process while we compare the results record by record. Differences are explained and fixed before anything is switched over.

06

Launch, Monitor & Hand Over

We release in stages, watch the dashboards and alerts, and hand over documentation, credentials and access. Integrations rely on other people's software, so we agree how changes will be monitored and handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need custom integration, or will a native connector or Zapier do?

-

No, not always. If both systems offer a maintained connector that moves the fields you need, use it. Custom integration earns its cost when you need two-way sync, business rules, several systems in one flow, volumes, a connector throttles, or an audit trail. We will tell you at the start if an existing connector is enough.
